The mission of the Texas Rehab Action Network,
(TRAN) is to advance the Public Vocational Rehabilitation Program assuring effective service delivery for persons with disabilities.

The mission is accomplished by:

Advocating, educating and mobilizing legislative and public support;

Providing training conferences, forums and other effective communication methods for vocational rehabilitation professionals;

Fostering the highest standards of professional conduct.

TRAN Scholarships

Available

Prior to the TRAN Conference, December 6-8th , the Special Projects Committee will determine six recipients of $1000 scholarships. To qualify, you must be a member of TRAN and be enrolled in college courses for a bachelor or master’s degree in Rehab Counseling.

Over the years, students and professionals in the VR field and TRAN itself have been enriched by this program and we invite your participation.

If you are not currently a member of TRAN, you may submit your membership application and the $50 fee together with your application for a scholarship.

Application for

Scholarship

  1. All applicants must complete and mail the application for TRAN Scholarship by October 30, 2010. If an application is not available, please send your information via email to raul.tello@sbcglobal.net

  2. Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment for a post-secondary course of study in a college-level bachelor or masters program.

  3. Applicants will be selected on the basis of academic merit and financial need. A letter of recommendation from faculty or employer describing community involvement and examples of leadership will be favorably considered.

  4. All applicants must submit an essay describing their personal and educational achievements. Please describe any community involvement, work experience and examples of leadership. The essay should describe how the 2010 TRAN Scholarship Award would be used to meet educational expenses. The essay should not exceed two double-spaced typewritten pages or be more than 500 words in length. If an accommodation is required, essays may be submitted in an alternate format (braille, diskette, tape).

Sponsorships to the

TRAN conference


TRAN will sponsor up to 14 students to attend the TRAN conference. This sponsorship consists of the conference registration fee and hotel and meals stipend. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to the conference.

If you would like to apply for a sponsorship, check the box below and complete the information. For conference sponsorship only, you are not required to be a TRAN member but you must be enrolled in a Rehabilitation Counseling program.
