The Inaugural American Diabetes Association’s “Houston Tour de Cure” was held Saturday, September 19th, 2009. Over 800 riders participated in the event and raised over $213,000.00. For each $1.00 that was donated $1.44 is spent to help support diabetes research, advocacy and outreach in the Houston area.

TRAN and Freedom Orthotics & Prosthetics co-sponsored “Team Freedom” which consisted of four riders. Lori Brooks – Team Captain, Gustavo Guido, Robert Owens and Ty Wilson. It was a gorgeous day for a cycling event! Gus, Robert and Ty went for the gusto by taking on the longest journey. Each completed their 100 mile ride with a smile! Lori was thrilled to get off her bike after completing her 64 mile journey. While the team was off cycling Cheryl Guido and Karen Thompson mingled with the crowd to help spread the mission of TRAN. Team Freedom raised $850 for the cause and everyone is excited to participate again next year!

  SUBJECT: Toy’s for Tot’s

This year one of TRAN’s goals is to provide Toy’s for Tot’s to children in the Fort Worth Area this Holiday Season. The Community Initiatives Committee is asking that each TRAN member attending the conference, bring an unwrapped toy. The Area Marine Corps will be attending the Annual TRAN Recognition Luncheon to receive our gifts of love. By working closely with Toys for Tots, TRAN members can help make several children’s Holiday Season special. We look forward to seeing everyone at the conference.

Thank you!
